Malcolm Lavery


Meet Malcolm Lavery (Mal), founder and sole owner of both Avenue Metals Recycling and Avenue Recycling Ltd. Having started his career as a young teenager in the metal merchants which first opened its doors in the 1970’s. His natural ability and entrepreneurial skills for this particular business quickly developed and he became MD and owner of Avenue Metals in the 1990’s. As the business grew and expanded into the waste management sector he needed to look for larger premises and so began the company Avenue Recycling.


General Manager

Eddie is one of Avenue’s longest standing employees. Beginning his Avenue Career in the metal merchant yard around 25 years ago. Transitioning to Avenue Recycling Ltd in 2015. Eddie is involved in the day to day running of all aspects of business activity. His experience, ability and expertise enable him to lead the team at Ballygomartin. His endless enthusiasm and innovative ideas are taking the company forward. Eddie is the future of Avenue Recycling.


Operations Manager

Michael has been with Avenue since 2012, after completing his waste management degree. Michael is the cornerstone of the office, managing daily work schedules of employees and varied role of our drivers. His excellent organisational and communication skills with both staff and clients make him an asset to our team and a valued member of staff.


Contract Manager

Albert has been with Avenue Recycling since 2015, following retirement from a long successful career with Belfast City Council. Alberts past experience and knowledge within the waste sector has enabled him to work well within the AR team. Albert is able to view waste management from various perspectives such as service needs and service provision. He can identify the strengths and limitations of this industry and can such provide valuable insight into these areas. Albert’s excellent networking and interpersonal skills with colleagues and customers also make him a valuable member of our team.


Personnel Manager

Caroline (Malcom’s wife) joined the family business in 2016. Caroline manages personnel issues, working alongside other members of the team.


Finance Manager

Having finished school in 2016, Hannah was keen to make her mark in the family business. Hannah manages all things finance. Having no previous experience in the waste industry Hannah endeavours to learn more about the industry, attending many courses and training days. Hannah is looking forward to growing with the business and hopes the family business will continue to be successful for many years to come.
